ExtremeSpyro ( talk) 00:44, 19 October 2013 (EDT) I could go ahead and add the revisional differences (sans screenshots, though I could stick a TODO in there asking for some) to the actual page for it if you guys wanted. I'd help if I owned the original version of the game, I downloaded a supposed 1.0 ISO of the PS2 version from Coolrom though, so if I can get it to run decently on an emulator, I'll see about playing through the whole game. If we ever bother covering this, it should be noted the PC version came out later so it's the "easy" version. I've heard of revisions before, but I have never heard of one that toned down the difficulty this drastically. Suffice to say, there are a fair amount of differences. That's about as far as I bothered looking. I guess they did this to avoid more backtracking if you did the maze. In the GH version you use an angled b-doing at the top of the tree which THEN takes you to a chain of red b-doings. When you get to the top of the trees and are about to head to the second set of clustered blue b-doings, you reach it in the original version by using a chain of red b-doings.If you don't know what I mean.well, there's four of them instead of two. The angled B-Doings at the beginning go in different directions. The safety net at the beginning of B-Doing Woods is missing.I knew there was something tacked on about Pac-Man suddenly having dialogue, even if it was just a thought. Speaking of which, apparently they originally didn't hint you were supposed to rev roll into the frog after he went to the steel tongue. As far as I know, none of the other versions did this, not even the Player's Choice version. Blinky's Killer Frog is called Blinky's Frog on the GH version.A sign in The Bear Basics mistakenly refers to a Pac-Cub as a Pac-Bear.Can you show me one of the videos demonstrating the one-hit kills and longer platforming before I blow money on an original release? // ExtremeSpyro Here's the one hit kill thing ], and this video series ] seems to be on the original. I have the Gamecube and Xbox versions too but they're the Player's Choice/Platinum Hits rereleases. I grew up with the Greatest Hits version unfortunately. This is a very interesting piece of info. Looks like we have a fair amount to cover here. I also noticed most of the power-ups wear out a whole lot more quickly. Okay, I found another video of the original PS2 release and the ghosts do kill you in one hit there. Does anybody have more information on this? I have the Greatest Hits version and can confirm the ghosts only take one health point out in that version. They apparently toned the game down in the re-releases. The ghosts are one-hit kills in the original versions and the platforming is more difficult. I was browsing the comments of this video ] and apparently the Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits/Player's Choice re-releases are all drastically different from their originals. I know this page hasn't been edited in forever, but something of interest just came up. There's also a text file labeled "foo.txt" in the same directory that lists the files already in there and the current space they take up. Here's the contents of the file, by the off However, given this page is for the PS2 version, is it alright to submit for the GC? Or, do we need a separate page/section, or? One that isn't about coding for Pac-Man/stages is a leftover *.bat file under ~/netdata/music that, I'm guessing, was meant to copy files over or something. There's a few of txt files in this game, at least on the Gamecube version. True, but Pac-Man World 2 also includes a port of Pac-Attack that came from Namco Anthology 2. Is it a fan-made complete soundtrack? They often include all the tracks they find on the disc, even if they're not used. I just found a complete soundtrack of PMW2 and apparently there is a track called "Pac-Attack: God Mode". What we like about it: The compact design and no-frills use By combining a retro look with fully up-to-the-moment functionality, Roberts have crafted a really special product that’ll sit in pride of place on your kitchen counter. I get the feeling that the iStream 3 is the type of radio which will keep evolving as it ages and that fills me with excitement for its future. So the Revival iStream 3 is effectively a wireless speaker as well as a digital radio. While we're talking about streaming, you can send music from your smartphone (which can also control those streaming apps I mentioned) over Bluetooth. You can also stream internet radio, which is a useful function if your DAB signal is poor. Hook it up to wifi and you can use a variety of streaming apps: Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Tidal. It can also connect to the internet, and that's where the iStream 3 reveals a variety of new tricks. As I mentioned, this is a radio built for 2019, so it can do more than just pick up a radio signal. That combination, of clarity and power, was unsurpassed by the other radios I tested, and a major reason why I chose this one as my favourite.Īnyway, banging out a radio tune is only half of the magic here. Once you settle on a station and start listening to music, you learn that the iStream 3 is blessed with clean, clear sound, and it can really blast it out at high volume. There’s a satisfying ratchet as you turn them which feels very precise and deliberate. This is probably my one criticism of the product (the display is a bit small to easily use setup menus) but I'm going to forgive it because the knobs you use to navigate it are so good. You can choose up to ten presets to jump back to if you want to be able to find your favourites quickly – although it's worth noting that setting up those presets can be a bit fiddly. Out of the box, the radio scans for DAB radio signals, opening up a portal into a world of hundreds if not thousands of radio stations. Yes, this is very much a 21st Century radio. There are two old-school knobs, a few press buttons, and a digital screen that displays square 'app' icons much like you see on a smartphone. The radio's control panel is on the top, and it's here where you start to see how Roberts are melding old with new on the Revival iStream 3. It uses rechargeable batteries, so powering it on the go is straightforward. For my money, put this on your kitchen window and you've got a status symbol to rival that Le Creuset cast iron frying pan on the stovetop.ĭespite the very premium look and feel, Roberts have somehow managed to keep the radio light and easy to move – ideal if you fancy taking it out into the garden while you’re mowing the lawn. That deep blue you can see in the picture (also available in four other colours) is leather it combines perfectly with the gold detailing on the straps, logo, and speaker face. It drips retro charm – a reminder of radio's golden years. Even so, during testing I was genuinely blown away by how good this radio is. Given that this radio proudly bears the royal seals from both the Queen and the Prince of Wales, you’d expect big things. But for a premium quality, stand-and-deliver DAB radio, the company's Revival iStream 3 is as good as you can get. Today, their range is extensive, spanning wireless (there's that word again) speakers and turntables. Roberts are the radio manufacturers to beat, having been making wirelesses (ah, remember when the word wireless didn't refer to internet connections?) since 1932. What we like about it: A retro design and modern tech combine to fantastic effect Here's what I found on my search for the best DAB radio out there, starting with my favourite. When testing the products for this review, I tried them out at home, using them while I did the everyday tasks that the radio accompanies so well – getting ready for work in the morning, cooking at night, cleaning at the weekend. Listening to the radio in your kitchen while washing up has never been easier, or clearer.Īs with most technology products, this is a crowded space and there's a lot of very good devices for sale. The best digital radios today offer top sound quality and slick interfaces – and at a reasonable price point too. According to Ofcom, around 90pc of adults in Britain listen to the radio weekly and the amount of time we spend listening is on the up.Ī big part of that is thanks to the advent of digital radio, which allows for more stations, stronger signal, and less interference. The advent of Spotify, Apple Music, podcasting and the rest was supposed to herald the passing of good old airwave broadcasting – but the statistics tell a very different story. Don't believe what they say: radio is alive and kicking. A second DC-6 was added in 1976 and this type remained in use until 1981. The first flights from Las Vegas to Area 51 were performed in 1972 by a Douglas DC-6 operated by EG&G. The fleet's "Janet" call sign is said to stand for "Just Another Non-Existent Terminal" or "Joint Air Network for Employee Transportation". The airline's aircraft are generally unmarked aside from a red cheatline along the aircraft's windows. The airline mainly serves the Nevada Test and Training Range (most notably Area 51 and the Tonopah Test Range) from a private terminal at Las Vegas's Harry Reid International Airport. Janet and Janet Airlines are unofficial names of a highly classified fleet of passenger aircraft operated for the United States Department of the Air Force as an employee shuttle to transport military, DOD civilians, and contractor employees to Special Access Program Facilities ( SAPF). A tablet should have at least 128 GB of internal space to ensure that you have the breathing room to do so. Storage: Although streaming your media is convenient, at times you’re likely to want to download video, music, and documents to your tablet in advance-for example, if you’ll be on a plane without Wi-Fi access.A tablet’s large screen also makes it better for gaming than a phone, so it’s nice if the tablet has the horsepower to play the latest mobile titles. But a good tablet needs to be able to keep up with increasing app and OS requirements. Performance: Every tablet will feel slower over the course of two to three years as apps grow larger and demand even more power, and as the Android operating system adds useful but demanding features like split-screen multitasking. At this writing, we draw the line at Android 12-a tablet running anything older than that isn’t worth buying. Software: It’s important for a tablet to run a recent version of Android plus, tablets tend to get software updates less frequently than phones, so you shouldn’t start at a disadvantage. The tablet should also be able to last through at least a full day of heavy use-eight or more hours of browsing the web, streaming video, and running apps. If a tablet’s standby time can’t be measured in days, it’s not good enough. The last thing you want when coming back to your tablet is a dead battery. Battery life: You probably don’t carry your tablet with you everywhere, as you do your phone, so it can be easy to forget to plug your tablet in.Watching video is one of the most common uses for a tablet, and no one wants to be staring at a dingy, low-res screen while they binge Netflix. Display: A good tablet must have a high-resolution screen with a wide brightness range.✓ Answered Question Discussion Analysis PSA Verification New Info! Engineers have deliberately destroyed spacecraft before, such as Cassini, which plummeted into the atmosphere of Saturn, and Galileo, which met a similar end on Jupiter, but those goodbyes were planned. But it is unusual to wreck an observatory because you have no other choice, and so unexpectedly too. Hardware of all sorts ages and breaks-Hubble, another famed telescope, is operating with fewer working parts than it launched with 30 years ago. Arecibo’s demise is a different fate than astronomers are used to. The expectation was that Arecibo would bounce back yet again.Įngineers are now working to quickly formulate a plan to demolish the telescope before it collapses on its own. “It’s just too important of a tool for the advancement of science,” Francisco Cordova, the observatory’s director, said at the time. Even after the second cable broke this month, officials wanted badly to save the telescope. This year, a month before the first cable failure presaged Arecibo’s downfall, the observatory weathered a tropical storm in silence and then powered up as soon as the skies cleared, ready to chase an asteroid as it zoomed past Earth. In its lifetime, it has survived earthquakes and storms, including the hurricane that devastated Puerto Rico in 2017, which damaged some of the dish. Over the years, Arecibo has built a reputation as a resilient institution it has faced danger and damage, but it has always endured. Read: What happens if China makes first contact? It is considered a landmark in the field of SETI, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, and one of the best spots for studying potentially hazardous asteroids near Earth. Engineers fear that more cables could break and crash into the dish.Īrecibo has provided observations for discoveries within the solar system and well beyond. “According to engineering assessments, even attempts at stabilization or testing the cables could result in accelerating the catastrophic failure,” Gaume said. The structure is so unsteady that it’s too dangerous for engineers to inspect it up close. The Arecibo Observatory faces an “uncontrolled catastrophic collapse,” Ralph Gaume, the director of the astronomy division at the NSF, told reporters this morning. The gut punch is that this main cable was scheduled to be replaced this year. “It was just not seen as an immediate threat, and I don’t think anyone understood that clearly the cable had deteriorated,” Zauderer said. Engineers had recently inspected the cable, and though they saw that some of its exterior wires had torn, they thought it was strong enough to hang on. A main cable, one of the originals installed when the observatory was built, had snapped, causing even more damage. But earlier this month, just days before engineers were scheduled to try to stabilize the telescope, another piece of hardware came smashing into the dish. Officials were hopeful they could repair the damage, and outlined a plan. The great Arecibo, where the fictional astronomer Ellie Arroway scanned the cosmos for unexplainable phenomena in Contact-and where countless real astronomers did the same-now resembled a crumbled set from an apocalyptic disaster movie. Read: A mission to the sun left just in timeīy the time the sun rose the next day, the telescope was transformed. The cable “definitely should not have failed in the way it did,” Ashley Zauderer, the Arecibo program director at the National Science Foundation, which owns the telescope, said during a press conference today. The cable, installed in the 1990s, was considered fairly new for an observatory that began operations in 1963, and the incident confounded Arecibo’s stewards. A metal support cable weighing thousands of pounds slipped out of its socket and plummeted into the cavernous, 1,000-foot-wide radio dish in the middle of the night. Instead of trying to fix it, they’re going to tear it down. But it was forced to stop operations this year after suffering unprecedented damage, and officials now believe that it is beyond repair. One of the most powerful telescopes in the world is on the brink of collapse.Īrecibo, a giant radio observatory nestled in the lush mountains of Puerto Rico, did some of the dreamiest work in astronomy. Data Modeling is the process of creating data models by which data associations and constraints are described and eventually coded to reuse. In the light of the above, it is the first critical step in defining the structure of available data. The data model provides the blueprint for building a new database or reengineering legacy applications. It involves expressing data and information through text and symbols. A proper data model certifies actionable downstream results, knowledge of best practices regarding the data, and the best tools to access it.Īfter understanding what is data modelling, let’s discuss its examples.Īlso Read: 9 Skills You Need to Become a Data Modeler in 2022 What is Data Modeling?ĭata Modeling in software engineering is the process of simplifying the diagram or data model of a software system by applying certain formal techniques. A Data Model is this abstract model that allows the further building of conceptual models and to set relationships between data items.Īn organization may have a huge data repository however, if there is no standard to ensure the basic accuracy and interpretability of that data, then it is of no use. In order for data to allow this measuring, it has to be organized through data description, data semantics, and consistency constraints of data. Good data allows organizations to establish baselines, benchmarks, and goals to keep moving forward. Before getting started with what is data modelling, let’s understand what is a Data Model in detail. According to LinkedIn, it is the fastest-growing profession in the present job market. A Data Model un-complicates data into useful information that organizations can then use for decision-making and strategy. It is the process that assigns relational rules to data. Similarly, a marketing team will have no use of that same data if the IDs didn’t relate to specific price points during buying. For example, customer data is meaningless to a product team if they do not point to specific product purchases. This data refers to information that is machine-readable as opposed to human-readable. It can be a study about disease cures, a company’s revenue strategy, efficient building construction, or those targeted ads on your social media page it is all due to data. Rather than relying on patches and third-party extensions to check company data and information are secure, using a communication and collaboration tool that has this by default is the best way forward. At RealTyme, we know the concerns business owners and C-Suite executives have about their hybrid or remote workers accessing sensitive information from home. Organisations should be seeking communication platforms that are built with privacy by design, providing a secure alternative to WhatsApp Web that is designed for multiple devices to be synced and securing its content with end-to-end encryption. Choosing a Secure Alternative to WhatsApp Web This is because as WhatsApp Web is a web app it also relies on users to not install anything malicious through browser extensions or other downloads, making it a less secure way to access this. Whilst the issues discovered were later patched, those using WhatsApp Web instead of the accompanying desktop app were still at risk of browser vulnerabilities with Chrome etc. Users who had outdated versions of the desktop app were particularly at risk, as the security updates and patches would have to be manually downloaded.įrom a business owner's POV, the risks of employees using outdated consumer apps that had security vulnerabilities are too great. The issue was discovered by a researcher who found “multiple critical security flaws”, something that was attributed to WhatsApp Web using the Electron software framework – which has had its own security issues and is used by other apps such as Skype and Slack. Is WhatsApp Web a Security Risk?įor users who had WhatsApp Web installed on a company-provided computer, the vulnerability left the door open for bad actors to access confidential information or files, running the security risk of a data breach. This affected both WhatsApp Web’s Mac and Windows versions, and meant that messages could be altered, malware could be installed, and potentially sensitive or private documents and files could be accessed. However, with this convenience comes risk, with a security vulnerability discovered in 2020 that meant users could remotely access files from another user’s computer by inserting JavaScript into messages. This is from a point of view of convenience for users, enabling access wherever you are connected to the internet. WhatsApp Web works similarly to those who have devices in the Apple ecosystem that can log in and use iMessage across multiple devices that sync, or those with Android devices using Google messages. In 2016, the WhatsApp Web desktop app became available for download, providing an extension for users’ smartphones. WhatsApp Web is an online platform you can access from your computer where you can link and log in using a WhatsApp account. With concerns surrounding its security after intruders accessed remote desktop files through WhatsApp Web, is WhatsApp Web secure for business use, and what other risks does it pose compared to using the app on your smartphone? What is WhatsApp Web? Whilst the majority of people who use WhatsApp do so through a smartphone or tablet, there is also the desktop version called WhatsApp Web that can be downloaded onto a company-supplied laptop or desktop. There are still many people using apps like WhatsApp for business collaboration and its convenience, despite the concerns over the visibility of data and personal information. Many have added additional features but only when issues were found, or concerns were raised. At RealTyme, we have concerns around the continual use of consumer-built secure messaging apps and their safety as they were not designed from the ground up with this in mind and exist to create addiction and monetize eyeballs. In a workplace environment, security and privacy are two of the uppermost concerns for a business to be compliant, especially when looking to integrate software to help with collaboration and productivity.
